From the book:

My name is Gavyn.

Liam doesn’t care that I only have one arm. He actually likes my red hair and freckles. I might forgive him for kidnapping me.

My name is Gavyn.

I lost my Liam. I’ve lost them all. And now it’s my job to make sure they don’t show up again.

My name is Gavyn.

I had a life with Liam, but he couldn’t give me what I need. Then I killed his father. I don’t expect he’ll forgive me for that.

My name is Gavyn.

 My thoughts:

I always enjoy when the cover is what I envisioned in the story.  That is always a plus! Gavyn was described so vividly, I immediately liked her and felt she was a very tangible character.  For me, the story was unique.  It was a nice break from the ordinary YA Sci-Fi love story.  At times a little hard to follow, being the names/people were essentially the same, but overall, it wasn’t too difficult and definitely got easier.

I really liked how Gavyn embraced herself.  She was who she was, no limits, no excuses.  I believe it really sends a strong message about what it really takes to be a true ‘hero’.  I also really appreciated how right from the start, Liam was not afraid nor intimidated by her.  I don’t recall a story that had such a strong main character like Gavyn.  Truly a first read for me.

The story was not too far-fetched and was easier to follow  that the likes of INCEPTION.  ANTITHESIS had many realms or levels to follow, but it was much easier to comprehend and digest.  My anxiety levels were often raised as scenes would make me second-guess the actions of the characters.  It truly was a great read.

If you are looking for a captivating, unique read, ANTITHESIS should definitely be on the top of your list.  I recommend the book to older teens and fans of YA Sci-Fi Romance.  There is some language, so parents should take note and give approval if that’s how you roll.  Other than that, be sure you give it a read!
