ABEA’14 Day 3~Broadening Horizons and Shortening Stories

Expanding Blogging Horizons
What do you think about when you think about going beyond blogging or expanding your horizons? Is it a redesign of your blog? Have you branched out into freelance writing or even published a novel of your very own? Or, have you moved into a different venue like podcasts or vlogging? This is the day to tell us about how you have expanded on blogging in your own unique way.

The options are endless when it comes to expanding one’s horizons.  I know that I have tossed around the idea of doing some podcasts and vlogging with a very close friend of mine.  I had done some vlogging for another site, but I really got frustrated with how I looked and sounded.  I really would like to try it again as I feel that I convey my ideas better verbally.  Not sure that I will be vlogging soon, but it will happen in time!

Novellas/Short Stories
Now it is time to give a little love to those little stories in your life. Share your love for your favorite shorts of any form. What is a short story or novella that doesn’t get the attention that it deserves? Recommend to readers what shorts you would recommend they start with. How about listing some short story anthologies based upon genres or authors?

I have read a few shorts, but I really prefer a much more in-depth story.  I have been participating in a blog tour with I AM A READER, NOT A WRITER for the Ripple Effect Romance.  The novellas are all great and all offer a different story that is unique.  After I read a short, I usually remember how great they can be, but I don’t seek them out often enough.

I must add, I am really enjoying ABEA’14!  It has been such a wonderful time stopping in on so many different and great blogs!

I would like to try some vlogging too, but I have some hang ups about sight and sound on camera. I don’t know… Maybe I could get Danielle to do it.

I tend to agree with you, I don’t actively seek out short stories unless they are by a favorite author and are available on the author’s website.

  3. Courtney @ Courtney Reads A Lot -

I’m the complete opposite when it comes to verbal communication. I communicate my ideas much better when writing, and I don’t see myself doing vlogs, but it sounds like it would work really well for you. And I completely agree about short stories! I’d much rather read something longer and more in-depth.

I look to short stories/novellas when I’m having trouble getting into full length books. Glad you’re having a great week.

I’m not sure I’ll ever fully be a vlogger. I spend enough time on this blog I’m not sure I’m up for video editing and taping on top of it. Great post!
