Armchair BEA Introduction

Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging? Where in the world are you blogging from?

Hi all!  I am Colleen…or Cici…I have been blogging now for about 4 1/2 years.  I have branched out from books a little bit and have started a few different blogs.  I am currently blogging from Oklahoma City, OK.
1.  Describe your blog in just one sentence. Then, list your social details — Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. — so we can connect more online.

My blog is a very relatable, truthful take on books…and sometimes other stuff.  I can be found on TWITTER, FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, and PINTEREST.

2.  What genre do you read the most? I love to read because ___________________ .

I tend to read mostly YA.  I am really liking romance/historical romance more and more though.  I love to read because it is relaxing.  Sometimes reading is the cheapest vacation.

3.  What does your favorite/ideal reading space look like?

My ideal reading space would be a hammock, by a pool on a beachfront.  :)

4.  What book would you love to see as a movie?

I can’t really name one book that I would love to see as a movie.  I really do love books and really don’t like when movies are released of books I have loved.  So often the movie disappoints.  Nothing can really replace what the imagination produces!

Enjoy Armchair BEA 2014!  Great to meet you all!

Armchair BEA: Blogging Relationships

The suggested topic today through Armchair BEA is about nurturing and maintaining book blogging relationships.  I must say, the relationships formed are my favorite thing lately about blogging.  I live in Oklahoma and just yesterday had a terrible day weather-wise.  I cannot express how touching it was to have an author that I met via someone, some how, via social networking and blogs, check to make sure my family and I were safe and then express relief.  That gesture was amazing.  I have come across so many wonderful people, bloggers, authors, some publishers and many others via social networking (blogs, Twitter) that I can address as my friends.

I set out to do my blog on a totally different plane and was going to test the water a bit via Twitter.  I stumbled across a book blogger through someone’s #ff.  I followed, they had interesting stuff.  I started to follow more of their followers and so forth.  I had started to consider changing my blog plan.  I then began to follow a newer blogger and started to ask questions as she began to tweet and do posts.  She was so helpful.  It led me to follow bigger bloggers.  On occasion I would fire off a question that I guess only a newbie would ask.  I was shocked at how helpful so many bloggers were.  I was absolutely amazed at the community.

I began getting ‘to know’ a few authors here and there.  I, again, was so amazed at how kind and generous so many authors were.  I feel like there are several authors that I have built a relationship with and I feel honored to have such a mutual respect.  It has been amazing to build these connections through blogging and tweeting.  It has really taken my love for the written word to a whole new level.  The books have become more than just books.  Interacting with the authors and the other bloggers who share the same passion and desire almost gives the books a soul.  There just seems to be so much more character and life to the written word when shared with others.

I am grateful for the opportunity to meet so many bloggers, authors and publishers and I look forward to continuing to create such wonderful relationships while breeding a love and desire for the written word.  If I have yet to meet you, I look forward to it.  Through bloggers of different genres I have been able to expand my tastes and experiences and hope to continue to do so!

Thanks for stopping by!
